Am i really that negative about ICT?
Having looked at some other blogs and the interesting things some people have written about ICT i am beginning to think that i am too negative about ICT. I wouldn't say i'm really that scared of using ICT or that i don't appreciate the wonderful things we can do but sometimes when i am introduced to something new in ICT i don't really get that 'wow' factor. I don't feel like 'that is amazing' and i don't really feel the urge to use it/see it/do it. Does this mean i am negative?

i feel the same Emma! I do not feel that I find it really exciting, but I do appreciate that as teachers we do have to set a good example. I think maybe I feel like this because I do not feel that confident about how to teach ICT and I find that it is not that relaible. How many times have we been in lectures and the computer has not worked, either delaying the start of the lecture or meaning the lecturer has to adjust their presentation. This happened just this morning in RE. I think that rather then advancing the technology so quickly, finding new gadgets, maybe some people should focus on finding better methods for the technology already created!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with your point Caroline! With ICT we seem to be so rushed in finding and creating new technology and changing things. We should try to improve upon current technology instead of changing it completely. As soon as we buy something it is then out of date!
ReplyDeleteHey Emma, I also feel a bit apprehensive to sue ICT in the classroom, when we were on our placements together in the first year we were both overwhelmed by the interactive whiteboard. However think about how confident you are becoming with an IWB now? So think about how apprehensive you feel about the new ICT software you are using at the moment, but with practice how your confidence will develop and aid you to support children?
